Michael has been passionate about music since he was a young child. From the early age of 7, he participated in piano lessons, followed by voice lessons, guitar lessons, and percussion. His passion for music only grew in high school when he began touring nationally and internationally with his high school choir and starring in musical theater productions in his home town of Coppell, Texas. He then went on to major in Classical Vocal Performance at Baylor University, where he graduated with honors, earning a B.M. in Vocal Performance in May of 2009. While at Baylor, Michael participated in top-level choirs and performed in many operatic productions, amongst other performances.
After graduation Michael began teaching, performing, and working as a church musician in the Dallas area. Michael taught as a private voice instructor and music director for several top performing arts academies in Dallas, including Dallas Conservatory for the Arts, Texas Creative Arts Academy, and Dallas Summer Musicals Academy, all while maintaining private voice studios in numerous high schools. During this time, he performed often as a professional wedding vocalist and in leading roles with professional regional theaters in Dallas, including Theater Three, Lyric Stage, and PFAMILY Arts.
With a passion for continued education, Michael studied voice during the years after graduation with renowned baritone Brian Schexnayder of the Metropolitan Opera. Since his move to southern California in October of 2012, Michael has continued his training with other top vocal instructors in the area and performs and teaches throughout southern California. As a teacher, Michael fuses his love for singing, piano, and guitar with a deep understanding of a wide variety of musical styles. He has years of experience in helping both men and women sing everything from classical music to pop/rock. Michael is passionate about guiding his students to produce healthy, emotionally grounded sounds. With patience and persistence he finds joy in helping students of all ages grow in their musical ability and achieve their goals.
