Josh is an accomplished singer-songwriter/musician who has experience performing, recording, and promoting music, along with teaching in easy, layman's terms.
When he was seven, Josh began singing with his father in church and taking private voice, guitar, and piano lessons so he could better accompany his father in the performances. He took advantage of the jazz band and music programs throughout middle and high school, and trained vocally with the School of Minstrels for four years. He recorded his first album at the age of 15 as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Southlen, and recorded his sophomore album at the age of 18. He is currently producing, mixing, and mastering his own solo project.
Through both his recording work and community relationships, he has taught fundamentals, theory, and basic playing and performance skills to children and adults of nearly all ages. His ability to easily convey the principles of music in a fun and new way allows the students he teaches to exceed their own expectations. He ensures his students not only know how to read musical notation, but also how to play by ear, so that they get the best of both worlds at lessons. He utilizes the Nashville Number System as a way to help students jump into any song and start playing along!
