Hallie is a highly trained and experienced teacher who promotes fun and discovery under group and individual studio lessons. Her students are from diverse backgrounds, ranging from beginners as young as the age of four to adult students, as well as those with special needs. Her stylistic approach to working with advanced students helped her acquire a teaching position for undergraduates at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she received her master’s degree in piano pedagogy. An active member of the Music Teacher National Association (http://www.mtna.org), her work includes musicality, technique, aural training, music theory, and simple improvisation.
As a performer, Hallie has received awards from The United States Open Music Competition, The International Russian Music piano competition and The CYS Young Artist Competition and has participated in master classes and ensemble coachings given by renowned musicians such as Michael Richman, Natsuki Fukasawa, Haroutune Bedelian, and Moises Molina.
As a recipient of the full-tuition wavier awarded by the school of music of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Hallie completed the two-year degree within one year and graduated with the top score, all while participating in premier showcases, community concerts, as well as working as a collaborative pianist with the Conservatory of Central Illinois.
