Benjamin Rodriguez comes with over 25 years of experience, teaching all of the traditional band (wind) instruments, and orchestra (string) instruments. He is well-versed in band & orchestra pedagogy, along with piano and voice instruction. He believes in teaching the basic fundamentals of each instrument (scales, arpeggios, & method studies) before advancing into actual playing exercises and musical compositions. Benjamin believes in making his lessons fun and exciting, and is geared primarily toward what the student’s wishes are, along with proper instrument training and instruction.
Benjamin started off his musical training as early as 9-years-old, where he began with the piano & clarinet. He then branched off into other wind instruments in high school, performing in various jazz & rock bands. In college, he further expanded to string instruments, such as violin & cello, while earning his Bachelor of Music degree at Long Beach State University, CA. He has performed on concert tours with the Long Beach State Wind Symphony & University Choir all over the United States, as well as abroad in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Russia.
With his extensive knowledge of a wide variety of musical genres, Benjamin is able to tailor his lessons to meet the specific needs, requests and desires of all students who wish to learn from him. He believes in teaching all styles of music, from Bach to Rock, from Blues to Pop. Many of his students have gone on to become professional musicians themselves, both in teaching and in performance.
